Well, just like the 4th of july in the US, the 16th of september is a BIG day here. The actual event that started the independence movement happened during the early hours of the 16th of september in 1810. Why you care? Well cuz ppl here party on the night of the 15th thru the early hours of the 16th (fireworks and all too 
). On the 16th theres a Military Parade here in Mexico City.
