Stick a fork in me
It's always funnier when it happens to someone else.
When something embarrassing happens to you somehow we fail to see the humor in our own embarrassment, at least until later. But when it happens to someone else somehow we can find the humor in it right away.
Post your stories of something funny that happened to someone else that made you laugh. Or even your own stories of funny things that didn't seem so funny when they happened but you were able to laugh about later on.
Here is a silly story that always makes me laugh when I think about it:
My ex was going to Kentucky Fried Chicken to get some food for us and the kids. Since it was a big order and I didn't want him to forget anything I decided to make a list of what we all wanted. I wrote out all of our orders and then, deciding to have a little fun, added something extra to the end of the list. After all the "chicken with mashed potatoes and biscuit" orders I wrote something like "one order of your big hot manmeat". I figured he'd read the order to the cashier and then laugh at my little joke at the end. It didn't quite work out that way.
When he went to KFC the person taking the orders was the manager, and it was a man. (You can kind of see where this is going) As my ex was reading off the order the manager said "Why don't you just give me the list?"
Don't ask me why me ex did not at least glance at the list first!
Anyway, he hands the manager the list thinking nothing of it and a few seconds later after the manager reads the list he hands it back to him and says something like "uh, maybe you should just read it to me". Now he has no idea why the manager is suddenly acting all weird. So he reads off our order to him.
And when he gets to the end he sees what the manager saw and feels a combination of wanting to die of embarrassment and wanting to get home quickly so he can kill me!
Meanwhile I'm waiting at home for my yummy chicken and thinking we'll have a fun laugh over my little joke.
When he came in the door his face was so red and he was so mad! He was furious! I felt bad that he had to be embarrassed like that because no one else was supposed to see the note, but somehow I still found the humor in the situation. I don't think he ever did.
That story still cracks me up though!
Sorry, Chris!
