Im tired and my feet are killing me. This summer has been insanely busy, with both the grooming and kennel parts of the business I work for.
We ask so little of our customers, and they ask so much from us. Its getting to the point where I hate people, and would welcome a viscious dog into my arms as long as I didnt have to deal with anymore idiots!
So here's what goes down at Windy Mountain Boarding and Grooming.
We have business hours for a reason. And theyre pretty freakin awesome hours too. 7:30am-6pm. We ask that all the dogs coming for a day of beauty, to be dropped off between 7:30am and 10am, so they can be bathed/brushed out by the afternoon. Dropping your bichon/poodle/cocker spaniel/furry beast at 11:30am and then asking that they to be done by 1pm is RUDE. You're dog is not the only dog on the schedule! The groomers are not miracle workers!!!
Likewise, if you are going to be late picking up your dog from the kennel, and you wont make it by 6pm, CALL US. We are not just sitting around waiting for customers all day. We do A LOT. There is always cleaning/feeding/walking/bathing/brushing/more cleaning to be done, and waiting till 7:30pm, wondering where the hell you are and why you havent picked up your damn dog yet only makes our nights longer.
Leash your dog. Its really that simple. Just put a leash on them when you bring them inside. Sometimes, the front room is empty, and then its ok to not have your dog on a leash, honestly we dont mind. But if you look through the front door, and see a bunch of customers, be considerate and leash your dog! That woman in the nice business suit was not happy at all when your wet, dirty cocker spaniel jumped on her.
Bring enough food for your dog's kennel stay! Its crazy how many people dont realise they arent bringing enough food. If your dog is gonna be in here for 2 weeks, a little baggie of kibble will not last. Of course we dont let the dogs starve. We sell some dog foods, so there's always food we can dip into. But not bringing enough food is annoying.
We dont have time to check your dog for ticks. We just dont. If its a big bloated deer tick, we usually see them anyway. But get this... those big bloated deer ticks arent carrying Lyme disease! Ticks carrying the disease are teeny tiny and look like a speck of dirt. And if you just use Adavantix (or what have you), you dont need to worry about ticks! Its so simple! But no. We will not feel up your golden retriever everytime it goes for a walk. We just dont have the time.
Make sure your dogs shots are up to date. For the love of all things holy, get the shot records checked! As far as I know, ALL KENNELS require the kennel cough vaccine! If your dog's shots arent up to date, you really are endangering it, wherever you go.
*sigh* I feel better. A good rant is siriusly needed at times.
