Dear Friends,
Hi! Happy spring and happy Friday to ye.
I know this isn't weight-related, but---
I'm currently contributing to the NY Daily News' "Big Town, Big Heart" series which runs Monday-Thursday each week. It's a full page with photo profiling New Yorkers who make a difference through selflessness, philanthropy or other creative ways.
This week I interviewed an 8-year-old boy who started up a lemonade stand a year ago and has raised over $12,000 so far for Canine Companions for Independence, a national non-profit organization which breeds, trains and places service dogs with children and adults with disabilities. I also recently got to ride for a day in a coverted Winnebago "mobile soup kitchen" with a nun who serves food to the poorest of the poor in Brooklyn's toughest neighborhoods 365 days a year. Some of the people lining up for food were as young as four.
Here are a couple of links to previously published articles:

If you know anyone who deserves to be known for their charitable efforts, I'd appreciate if you'd pass my email address to them ([email protected]).
We profile musicians, football players, ordinary people (like one 104-year-old guy who's swept his entire block every day for 40 years) and anyone else who is making a difference in people's lives.
The only stipulation is the person must reside in New York City, Long Island or Westchester County.
Thanks...see you in the funny papers (literally)!
Best,
Josh M.
