Lions don't need to spank
I continually run across new things in my little world that make learning a daily process. 'Thought we could share new things with each other and perhaps learn something in the process. (This could make us appear "with it, connected, or a hip cat instead of a geek.)
Anyone is welcome to make contributions. My answers are in white after the new word(s).
1. Wire fire? This mostly applies to rednecks, scavengers, or thieves. My neighbors have a large "fire pit" in their front yard in which they burn insulated wiring they have gotten from houses & such. The wires could have been taken from an abandoned structure or stolen from a house under construction or from unprotected buildings in a occupied site.
A person burns the wires in the fire until the insulation is melted off. The metal in the wires is then harvested and can be sold to one of many scrap metal dealers in the county. Note: Copper wire and aluminum wire can be sold for profit. It is not unusual to see someone working the fire pit a few hours every day. Stealing wire is illegal, burning wire is not.
2. Carbicide? This word comes from the new Sacha Baron Cohen movie "Bruno". Bruno gets depressed and tries to commit carbicide by eating a whole bunch of starchy, sugary desserts with carbohydrates in one sitting. This includes sundaes, milkshakes, pies, ice cream, cake, and much more. He doesn't die, but it does make him sick and very, very woozy - sort of a diabetic shock condition.
