I was at a friends house tonight. We were having a vodka or two outside and my friend popped in to get something. While she was in there I heard her talking to her children. Both girls, 5 and 8. They were worrying that they were fat. She reassured them that they were both LOVELY and slim.
It made me sad that children of that age are worrying about it but it made me sadder that my friend had to reassure them that LOVELY and slim are the same thing. Especially while I was sat in ear shot.
The younger one has come to me before and asked me why I'm bigger than her mum, which I think is cute because children of that age ask questions. I didn't know exactly how to explain it to her but she said that she'd be told by her older sister that it was because i ate "kfc and mcdonalds at the same time" How do children of that age think like that? I don't really think bad of their mum because she's a GOOD mum, a really good mum, she just believes stuff like that. But she also believes that it's ok to throw up if she eats something fattening, which her partner doesn't say anything about because he'd rather her be slim.

Really, this world makes me so sad.
