I swore there was a thread on Malala Yousafzai, the teenager that spoke out against the Taliban's ban on educating women. She was then considered an "enemy of Islam" by the Taliban. They stopped a van that was taking Malala to school, where they shot Malala in the head and neck. Two of her classmates were shot and injured. She was flown to the UK when she was stabilized enough, where she is now attending school. She is also a Nobel Peace Prize nominee.

Here is her Wikipedia page.

On July 12, 2013, which was her 16th birthday, she addressed the UN in a speech about education. Link

This girl is my hero. Her story is incredible, her will is incredible, and I want for her what she deserves: A good education and the choice to do something with her life.

In trying to silence her, the Taliban has made her voice louder. It's incredible.
