CONTENT WARNING: LOTS OF BLOOD AND GORE AND NASTINESS.

Linky!

A listing of ten of the best horror movie deaths. Supposedly. (#1 is utter shit, though.)

Here's a list describing the scenes (as best I can), in white highlightable text so that it doesn't spoil anything for anyone who doesn't want to see.

#10- Evil Dead

Being choked by a Deadite that was once his good buddy, Ash fights for his life- by gouging out the creature's eyes, and ripping from its torso a wooden stick that had been stabbed through it. Much blood geysering ensues.

#9- Hellraiser II

Sick and twisted doctor wants to bring back his dead girlfriend. Does so through some dark ritual that requires blood. So he gets a guy from an insane asylum and has him cut the shit out of himself. Guy thinks that he's covered in insects. Really skeevy scene.

#8- Day of the Dead

Some dude's running away from Bubs, opens a door, and there's a fucking HORDE OF ZOMBIES RARR. Then he turns around and Bubs shoots him. Then the HORDE OF ZOMBIES RARR tears him apart in an extermely disturbing feast.

This is considered a big thing for horror movies, because prior to this, special effects had been mainly cutaways and camera tricks and a couple buckets of blood. This scene, however, is a straight shot of the body being mangled, and it proved that yes, special effects in horror movies CAN be incredible.

#7- Friday the 13th Part III

Andy goes to get a beer, and then BOOM. Sudden, and his girlfriend's comments make the scene good.

#6- Dead Alive

The most innovative way to kill zombies: LAWNMOWER.

#5- Scanners

YOUR HEAD A SPLODE

Gruesome and at the time pretty unexpected. It's still wicked cool to watch it frame-by-frame.

#4- Zombie 2

Slow, agonizing to watch, and really really freaky. Itaqlian director Lucio Fulci presents us with this incredible scene.

One of my friends says this is from the first Zombie movie, not Zombie 2, and that the website is incorrect. Any info regarding this would be appreciated.

#3- The Thing

The "Copper Chopper" is one of the many awesome scenes in this movie, and it's such a shocker, too! I mean, there's NO way anyone coulda seen that coming.

And the special effects here- WOW! Even 24 years later, they still rock, and I find them to be more convincing than a good amount of the CGI that I see in movies, simply because it actually physically exists. I will say, however, that because of the age of the film, the effects are somewhat dated, and a little bit of CGI texturing on the creature could do wonders.

#2- City of the Living Dead

There's a drill. And a head. They meet. The head comes out worse after the encounter.

#1- Jason X

Girl gets her head dunked in liquid nitrogen and then Jason smashes it on a desk. Piss-poor scene, even for a B movie.
