So tomorrow I have to vote either for Jerry Brown or Meg Whitman as governor of the State of California, which by itself would be the 8th largest economy in the world in terms of gross domestic product, larger than such nations as Brazil, Spain, Canada, Russia, India or Australia.
Now Jerry Brown's been there done that, and he even ran for President twice, was mayor of Oakland for a good number of years (which cannot be an easy job), and seems like a decent enough fellow. Whitman's claim to fame is that she's not Jerry Brown and presided over eBay's ascent into what it is today, and any way you look at it, that requires a degree of competence.
As is, I can't see either make much of a difference in fixing the problem at hand -- not enough tax revenue to pay for all the obligations. And dealing with a legislature that, no matter what, sees defeating the other side as its primary purpose.
Well, in a couple of days we'll know who gets to try for the next four years.
