Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forums. It said to make a post to the "introductions" forum, but I can't find it, so I'll make an introductions post in the Main Discussions area, but this is what brought me to the site as I see this seems to be the most accept fat acceptance board going right now incl. even that of NAAFA's.

I'm not sure I belong here. I've been morbidly obese my entire life, I'm 6 ft tall and my highest weight was 428 lbs. My highest waist size was 63 inches.

Currently I've been dieting due to intense family pressures. Truth be told, I've been doing it for myself also to give it a go. I currently weigh 246 lbs and my waist is about 50 inches.

I have a clothing question. Why is it I seem to wear bigger than most people even at my weight? Currently my size 54 and 50 pants swim on me. I have to wear a belt BEYOND all the belt holes, it's a cloth belt so I can do that. People tell me to get smaller pants all the time.

So, I actually decided to purchase some smaller pants at a store (size 42), but surprise, they're way too small on me. I can get into them, buy my belly pours over them. Yet I see obese friends who I KNOW are pushing the high 290s to low 300s buy these size 42s and they fit just fine. What gives? I see guys that I know are 170 to 190 lbs buying size 28s. WTF???

So what gives. Is my stomach just grotesquely larger than everyone else's or is it WHERE I wear my pants? I tend to wear my pants above my belly button "old-man style", while I see most guys tend to wear them in the male "camel-toe" area, ha in what I call "the perennium" just below their belly button. For me, that can be a difference of some 8 to 10 inches! If I were to wear those pants in that area, they'd be a bit big.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone has any experience in this area. What is the typical weight for a 6 ft tall guy who is in a size 42. The only references I could find online were biker store websites that correlated weight to clothing sizes.

Thanks in advance. It's good to see an active forum for large people! :)

Larry
