It looks like the Congressional budget season is shaping up to be a contest between the somewhat morally bankrupt and the totally sociopathic.

President Obama, in his latest Neville Chamberlain impression, proposes to cut of heating aid (during one of the worst winters in history and in the middle of the worst recession in 70 years), cut community block grants (just when communities need them most), reduce student aid (just when displaced workers need to retrain), and torpedo environmental cleanup programs. At the same time the President proposes to increase military spending 5% despite the fact we have no enemies of any military substance. And after the President recently approved extending tax breaks to our countries richest people and corporations.

Of course even this is not enough for the Republicans who will never be appeased.
