Okay, so tonight I watched the movie "Something's Gotta Give" with my parents. The basic storyline according to movie.about.com is this:

Harry Sanborn is a New York music mogul with a libido much younger than his years. He has the world on a string-and a string of beautiful young girlfriends to prove it. During a romantic rendezvous with his newest girlfriend at her mother's home, he develops chest pains and eventually winds up being nursed be her mother. Harry then develops heart pangs of a different sort for the mother.

But if I were to explain I'd simply say...Asshole man preys on lonely devorced woman who haden't had sex in years, dumps her like a sack of poo, wants her back, isn't sure, breaks her heart...the woman finds a young man who is head over heals for her, respects her work, and takes good care of her....she in turn breaks up with said young man after 6 months of dating happily because said Asshole returns claiming to be a changed man.

It made me angry. Angry that according to this movie you fall in love with someone after less than a week of knowing them, That you can date someone twice as good for a long time just to leave them for a man who crushed your heart in the past.

My parents adored the movie. They thought "oh he changed Heather! They were soul mates" and "I think her dating the doctor so long was an error in plot"

I said "He is an asshole. People don't change in 6 months magically because they heard others call them an asshole" and "she is a bitch for nearly getting engaged to a man who loved her so much when she would rather be self destructive with the other man all along"

So I ask you this....is this
love at first site/people change
an age related issue? Am I, or youths in general somewhat jaded about love?

Thoughts!

And about the movie too if you've seen it!
