This has to be an open letter because I don't know the person's name. In the interests of anonymity, I would not mind if the person involved chose to remain unknown.
Recently I was contacted by PM about being sent a Valentine's Day card by a third party. I was asked to send my home address so it could be sent.
However, I was really busy at the time and breezed through the Dimensions forums, and did not notice that I had any messages.
About a week later, I found I had several messages, which were also from the same person. I responded immediately and said I was sorry that I was late.
But it doesn't stop there.
I actually do not celebrate Valentine's Day owing to religious reasons. (I could give details, but they usually spark debate and intolerance.)
So my reply had to be doubly apologetic, that someone wanted to buy or had already bought a card from me, only for me to reply much, much later that "you don't have to bother since I don't celebrate it".
Or so I thought the carder would infer.
The messenger said she told the third party I was not interested, which was not entirely true.
So, this post is by way of trying to make up for all that and clarify my position.
I am not against giving my home address to interested parties who want to send me greeting cards. I think I refused to give it that time because of the pressure of very little time left. For this I am sorry.
I am sorry that I sometimes do not get to my PMs until a week or weeks later. (I do my best, but I am not used to looking in the top right corner of the webpage yet.)
I am sorry that I do not celebrate Valentine's Day. (However, I very much appreciate the effort of whoever it was to want to send me a greeting card of any sort, and I will not turn down any card. I just can't reciprocate.)
Sometimes we cannot change who we are, and that is what makes us human. But there are times when we wish we could be more things to more people, even if we know we cannot.
For this inability, I apologize sincerely.
