Our family includes three dachshunds: a 4-month-old female mini dach named Theo (smooth, chocolate & caramel); an 8-year-old long-haired male regular dach named Tricky (red); and a 10-year-old female mini dach named Tobey (wire-hair, red brindle).

Tomorrow we are going to the vet to have Tobey put to sleep.

She has tumors that are "involving" her mouth, palate, and sinuses. The vet removed the mouth tumor part that she could get to, in December. Now the mouth tumor has returned. She has limited tongue control and real trouble eating.

We have made the very difficult decision to let her go to spare her a prolonged period of suffering.

Tobey became a part of our family at 8 weeks old. She turned 10 years old the day after Christmas, a few weeks ago.

Godspeed, Tobey.

(I can't seem to post the photo itself; here is a link. Tobey is on the right in the photo.)
