I thought I would give you guys a taste of the resignation letter I have drafted and get some ideas from you. Here it is...

Dear ***********

I am writing this letter to inform you that I will be resigning my position as ******* at ***********. I do not regret returning to the Department in September 2009 as it has provided me with the opportunity to further my experience in the Child Protection field and has helped me to finish my Masters Degree with a high Grade Point Average.
But I cannot lie and say that I have had a completely positive experience here. I feel that my development as a professional was neglected by my former Manager **************** and that my subsequent professional deterioration was used as a means of bullying and racial discrimination by your predecessor ***********. ******* is the 3rd Departmental Office in N.S.W that I have worked in and never before have I been made to feel as worthless as I had been made to feel by them (particularly *******) and never before have I been treated with such hostility, negativity and unprofessionalism as I have been by ******* & ************.
Over the total 3.5 years I have worked in the Department I have seen plenty of these types of managers and the culture of impunity in the Department seems to encourage their abusive management and unethical practices, after all the only punishment they’re going to get is a transfer to another office where they can simply victimise a whole new group of people. The pervasiveness of this culture is one of the reasons why there is a lot of burnout of staff and thus why the Department has a consistent pattern of ineffectiveness in service delivery.
Having said that, there have been plenty of people who have made working at ********* a positive experience for me, particularly my last MCW ********** who had been very supportive of my professional development and my professional improvement. If it was not for ********* I would have actually resigned in September 2010 when I was moved to Intake.
In conclusion, I am happy to be leaving the Department but I will miss the work. I will miss being able to interact with children and families in the capacity that I have here and I will miss helping them to have a relatively positive life with their children (even if their children aren’t with them). I will also miss seeing the kind of improvement in the quality of life for the children. Much of what I have seen some of these children do in my time has been so amazing that it has actually inspired me in parts of my own life and how I interact with my own family.

Yours Sincerely

Let me know what you guys think
