Last night at dinner, I came *this close* to telling off an eldery woman! ME, the person who values older people and feels that our society doesn't nearly enough.

This is what happened: My mother and I were sitting at a table at Red Lobster waiting for our dinner to arrive, chatting about the movie we had just seen. In walked these two eldery women, I'd say between 70 and 80 years of age. The first woman went ahead to their table while the second limped along with her walker. Welllll, when she came to our table, she stopped dead in her tracks and gave my mother 'that look'. You know the one I mean, that 'oh my God that woman is sooo fat' disgusted look. I was so offended. But it didn't end there. She finally made it to her table and TURNED around and gave my mother that look again! I've never been so offended. I told my mother what had happened but luckily she missed the entire exchange. And my mother being the easy going person just shrugged it off. (I do wish I could be more like her at times!)

The only reason I didn't say anything to this nasty old bitty is because as the evening progressed, my mother watched this woman's interaction with other people. She was nasty to everyone she dealt with; her dinner companion, who happened to be her sister, and the wait person. We came to the realization that this woman was just an unhappy, bitter old woman. It still hurt my feelings, though, that someone would judge my mother just on her fat alone. Especially someone of her age that should have learned better by now!
