Banned from facebook,
I have a few little problems that I need some suggestions on how to deal with. A feral house cat has given birth to five kittens in our old chicken coop. The babies don't have their eyes open yet, so are keeping close to home right now. Mom comes and goes freely. She is 100% wild.

Here's where I see a problem. The chicken coop is about ten feet from the acre of land where our dogs stay. The mama cat has been sneaking in a night and eating dog food or mice that also eat the crumbs. (I think that's what brought her to our yard in the first place - easy food.) But, she must be fast and/or smart in that she hasn't been busted yet by the dogs.

However, I am afraid that once the kittens start moving around and exploring, they will stray into the dog's pen. I do not wish the kitties any harm, but it will happen if they cross paths with my Rottweiler or my Chow. A kitty weighing less than a pound and a Rottie weighing 160 pounds is not a fair match.

One more wrinkle. We do not live in the city limits. We live in a rural area. Where we live, the cities maintain the animal shelters. I would have to lie if I took the kittens to the city animal shelter. And I don't know if we could trap mom.

So, any ideas about kitten rescue and relocation?
Thanks in advance.
