My mother's 80th birthday is this Saturday, and I was wanting to make a smallish (15-20 people) batch of punch to go with her birthday cake. I want something kind of tangy, something I've had before--only I'm far from a punch expert because weddings, baby showers--generally the occasions where you have such stuff--really aren't my thing.
So--for anyone who is a punch expert--can you help? I don't want a punch with sherbet, since the cake will be sweet enough, and we might have ice cream, depending on the locale. I'm thinking something with maybe a pineapple/ginger ale base. I don't know what else is added. Any suggestions? What have you tried or made that you really like that is along these lines?
