Early in the first term of the Reagan Administration the union representing the air controllers threaten to strike. Reagan reminded the controllers that by law it was illegal for them to strike and he would fire anyone that did. The air controllers' union said Reagan was bluffing and would never carry out his threat.
The controllers went on strike and Reagan issued his ultimatum: Return to work or you will be fired. Some did come back, but most did not. Reagan fired those that did not return to work.
To this day some Democrats in Congress and their supporters still criticize Reagan for his action. They claim his actions were wrong and he should not have fired them en masse.

Today the Obama Administration plans to allow employees of the Transportation Security Administration to form a union. They too, by law, would be prohibited from striking or staging a work slowdown. The TSA chief John Pistole testified before Congress. When ask if he would fire TSA employees en masse if they staged a work slowdown or a strike, he said yes. John Pistole is a political appointee of the Obama Administration. As such his opinion can be construed as an opinion of the Obama Administration.
If the Obama Administration would fire any TSA employees illegally striking, then what does that say about the Reagan Administration's firing of air controller engaging in a illegal strike? Sounds to me like they approved of Reagan's actions.
Another win for the ole Gipper.
