I just recently got the internet back after 5 years. I've been enjoying all the you tube stuff and myspace phenom. One of the things that has been bothering me is the hate. Everytime I see a you tube video and the person in the video is fat the comments are hateful and dehumanizing about fat people. Granted most of these comments are from kids and teens. I am making it my personal goal to start posting positive comments about fat.
I think especially if men were posting more positive comments about fat women and women posting positive comments about fat men, perhaps we can do more than hanging out here preaching to the choir. People expect fat women to back up their fat sisters and they dismiss it out of hand, but when people see the opposite sex responding in a positive way it really does change their attitudes.
A lot of people say hateful things about fat people because they think "hey everyone hates fat people they'll like me if I say something bad about them".

I saw this video yesterday on my myspace so I clicked it. I don't have sound so I don't know everything that's going on, but it's a fat kid dancing and he is smiling and having a good time. The comments are so hateful and mean.
