Turns out my boss is not only an alkie: She's deranged, too. Rather adequately explains why she's not likely to give one credit for knowing his or her own job; after all, if SHE can't remember how to do something, surely we mere peons stand not a chance without her guidance.
Seriously, to illustrate just how much of a disconnect from reality this woman displays on a regular basis, listen to this: She once flipped right out on a waitress for having the audacity to ask "Is that for my table?"
Her frenzied response: "NOTHING IN THIS RESTAURANT IS YOURS! IT'S ALL MINE! YOU OWN NOTHING HERE!"
I shit you not.
And her husband? Well, he enlisted the aid of one of the senior waitresses to think up a Monday special in an effort to fight off the February doldrums. After nearly six straight hours of "No, that's not good enough," and "That'll never work," the waitress said, "Well, why not bring back the old Monday special?" (FYI, a buy one get one free promo. Worked pretty well last time from what I understand.)
"We've never had a promotion like that. I remember every promo we've ever run at this restaurant and there has never been anything like that here ever!"
Yes, he was apparently rather pissed for her having offered such a stupid idea.
Problem is, every cook and waitress remembers said promo. It ran a few months back.
Whether they can't remember it is a product of mass consumption of the ol' firewater or if it's just plain stupidity is one for the philosophers.
