Personally I am not a huge fan of Dr. Oz. But I do appreciate that he did a segment on how environmental estrogens may be causing weight gain in some people. Of course there is not one cause of obesity any more than there is one cause of cancer, intelligence, creativity, or countless other things. But at least this moves beyond the stereotype of gluttony and sloth. And sadly, a media personality has more power of persuasion than a scientist.
I also think they don't go far enough to connect the dots. These chemicals may contribute to diabetes and weight gain. MSM has blamed obesity, but if weight gain is just a symptom of a polluted environment, it does no good to simply focus on a symptom without attacking the cause.
