Vietnamese Fare

vietnameserolls.jpg

These are Vietnamese roll-it-yourself rolls. You dip the neat-o patterned rice paper in hot water to soften it, then roll up meat, cilantro, cucumber and rice noodles and dip it in a delicious peanut sauce.

You can't have Vietnamese food without Pho. This was delicious. Rare beef, rice noodles and onion in a light, yet hearty broth. Best I've ever had.

chicken.jpg

I can't remember the name of it but this was a very light, tasty chicken dish at the Vietnamese restaurant we went to. To the left is what remained of the garlic, honey, sesame-ey chicken wings that were to DIE for. Friday's going to try to reproduce the recipe for us.

Lebanese Deliciousness

bread.jpg

This was the bread that came all puffed up and you spear it to let the steam out before eating it. It reminded me of Na'an -- not sure if it's the same or not, but it's soooo good. I ate a whole lot of it.

kibbe.jpg

These are kibbe, the little "turdlets" Tina was talking about. They look weird but taste very good -- crunchy on the outside, and filled with ground beef and onion -- and you dip them in the yogurt sauce.

lebpasties.jpg

These are Sambousah, Lebanese turnovers, not unlike Cornish pasties, filled with ground beef, onion and lightly spiced. Very good.

combokebabs.jpg

Combination kabobs -- I think Jay ordered these, and they have chicken, lamb and beef. Yum! Under is jasmine rice. So good!

chickenkababs.jpg

Chicken kabobs. A little crunchy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. So good!

Dessert!

Tina's dessert at Elmer's. I can't remember what it was but it looked so good.
