Pretty?

From the length of time it's been up and the number of views I'm guessing not everyone has already seen this. Katie Makkai talks about the societal obsession for girls to be "pretty". I'd make a poll here but I really have no idea what to ask. I guess I'm just curious how anyone feels about this, especially as it relates to size. Is "pretty" some heinous golden calf that needs to be retired or does it serve some productive purpose unfathomable to me?
