So I have been living in Australia for about six years now, with plans of heading home in two! YAY! Home being the US that is...
My dad and I spoke the other day and he mentioned that he is trading in a 9mm he has for a 22 as he can no longer buy ammunition for either of these readily, but that he has a supply for the 22.
I guess this sparked a bit of curiosity on my part. After doing some reading I have found that the government has put in an order for 1.6 billion rounds of ammo, enough to last over 20 years of HEAVY fire. With this order I guess, putting a stop to public distribution/sales. Leaving what is left to sky rocket in price.
The government officials statements on reasons behind it do not really add up, mathematically.
I guess I am just really curious as to WHY this is happening. If this is their way of removing weapons from the people, fair enough. That is really all I can come up with besides possible preparation for something big. Thoughts?
