Question about truffles

Hey!

Foodie that I am, I have never tried black truffles. I would love to give them a whirl, but they are sooooo expensive! Could anyone here who has tried them compare them to a food (like mushrooms or something?) or are they completely their own taste? I would love to try experimenting with cooking them, so if anyone has any good recipes, bring them on!
