Normally, notices of the passing of those important to the size acceptance movement go in the Lounge, I know. I am posting the notice of Alfred Shaheen's passing here because he made popular the item of apparel that looks better on BHM's than on anyone else: the Hawaiian shirt. Mr. Shaheen did not invent the Hawaiian shirt, but in the 1950's he developed a line of clothing that combined the finest grade of cotton cloth with beautiful designs and brilliant colors. I mean this sort of thing. Homer Simpson once said, "Only two kinds of guys wear Hawaiian shirts: gay guys and big, fat party animals." So on behalf of the gay guys and big. fat party animals all over the world, rest in peace, Alfred.
