Has anyone seen that film? I saw whilst in LA- and it was the first film that really inspired me to think differently about my weight... i definitely enjoyed the idea and the way it was conveyed much more than Shallow Hal for instance... What I could especially relate to was the relationship between the main character (america ferrera) and her mother - I am sure that beneath all my mom's "concern" a lot of her problem with my weight has to do with social acceptance and ... "being a good catch" so to speak and of course her own issues. I love the way that she gets away from home and has her whole future ahead of her- and there she is , this beautiful fat girl walking proudly down the streets... ready to take on life... the way it should be :)
If you have seen it I'd love to hear your opinions/critiques... and if you have any suggestions for other movies which similarly defy convention and promote size acceptance I would appreciate the recommendations... cheers!
