No fat no flavor
I wonder if anyone else has done what I recently did.
I found myself reminiscing with my friends about treats I used to love as a kid. For example, my Dad used to work in Florida and he would come back to NJ on the weekends, and bring us coconut patties. I loved them!
Over the past few years, whenever anyone would take a trip to Florida, I would jokingly say "bring back coconut patties". No one realized I was serious!
My BF actually surprised me on my birthday - he had them sent to me directly from a company in Florida! What a sweetie! I then called and ordered...well....embarrassed to admit it...about 10 boxes of them (in various flavors - something they didn't have back in the 60s and 70s!)
The same week I ordered those, I also ordered Molasses Paddles from a salt water taffy shop in Atlantic City (where I grew up). But I didn't just order a few...I ended up with a can of 18, and about a dozen different boxes of taffy and some creamy mints, and some amazing almond macaroons. The stuff I grew up with!
I was going to pour all this stuff out on a table and take a pic for this board, but frankly, I was kind of embarrassed! lol
Perhaps I will take a couple of pics just to show you what these things look like. We'll see.
The next acquisition is a bin filled with "Ice Cubes" which someone mentioned on the chocolate thread. I love those! Someone told me the ones they are making now are not the same as the ones from my childhood. Only one way to find out!
P.S. speaking of not the same as the originals...neither the molasses paddles nor the coconut patties lived up to my memories. Sigh.
