On Space Out
I'm surprised nobody mentioned this yet.
Ok, not terribly surprised, the initial leaks and formal announcement weren't exactly timed for maximum media exposure.
My take on it is that, like the Gov. Palin pick last time, they're attempting to forestall a complete blowout of a loss, rather than to win. Rep. Ryan appeals to the Republican base (best known for his austerity budget, and has hard-line anti-choice credentials), not independent swing voters.
And the timing seems rushed. The last couple of weeks have not been good for the Romney campaign, and they may have felt compelled to act sooner than they would have preferred to, in order to change the discussion.
But I wonder -- half in jest -- if the larger concern wasn't base voters in November, but instead, a Ron Paul Revolution in Tampa?
