How many times have we heard Republican law makers (at all levels) claim they are voting against sex education, access to birth control, and access to reproductive health services (inc. STD clinics) because these just encourage teens to have sex. Of course -- surprise -- teens are having sex anyway. And with, as the linked chart shows, disastrous results.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/health/daily/051606/teensex.html

Notice how all those countries without represses sexual mores have much better outcomes -- fewer teen pregnancies, fewer abortions, fewer teens with multiple sex partners, and far far lower rates of sexually transmitted diseases. The percentage of teens who contract Gonorrhea in France is 1/10th that of the USA. The French Chlamydia Rate is 1/20th that of the USA!!!

If all these Republican windbags really cared about the welfare if teens they would be supporting Planned Parenthood and other provides of sexual education and reproductive health services. But of course that's not going to happen since these guys (and a few ladies) don't really care about the health and wellbeing of teens -- they only want the fundamentalist vote.
