Butterbelly
Melting in the desert
I'm taking the biggest risk yet to-date in my life. I decided a little over a month ago that I needed a big change in my life, desperately. While I'm happy with myself, I'm not happy with my current situation...i.e., job, relationship, location. I was accepted into the University of North Carolina back in March. I was also accepted into a fantastic university here in Missouri. I weighed the pros and cons of going to each school, and ultimately, my heart wants to be in North Carolina.
In less than three weeks, I am packing my bags and flying to North Carolina. I'm going with just two suitcases full of clothes, some money in my pocket, and a new attitude on life. I've never been more excited and scared at the same time. This is a huge step for me, and it means enduring the "unknown."
I've always been one of those "planner" types. If option A doesn't work, I move to option B and so forth...but this time, I'm flying by the seat of my pants. I don't know what the future holds for me, but I do know that I'm proud of myself for making such a difficult decision and sticking with it.
This decision means I leave behind most of my family (I have a sister in NC), my job, most of my possessions, and a relationship. But, I truly feel I'm making the right decision.
What major risks have you taken that have dramatically changed the course of where your life lead you?
