Yesterday Louise had a wonderful time. For the first time since September she and I and my 30-year-old autistic daughter all went to church together. Afterwards we all went up into the mountains to a big band concert which had a large dance area. We had a picnic and then went to where the bands were playing and people were dancing. Lorrie spent most of the afternoon wandering around and Louise spent her time either listening or, in a motorized wheelchair, dancing with people.
Then Lori and I took Louise home and we went to a picnic that a church family was having. The church picnic was celebrating the college graduation of the daughter and a wedding anniversary of the parents. Again Lori and I were very happy..
Today the director of the home that Louise lives in called up because she was absolutely incensed at what I had done. I had let Lori and Louise spend an afternoon in each other's presence. Louise for six months has been fighting C diff. My family doctor said, and I question him very closely, that there really is no chance of either Lori or I getting C diff unless either of us is on antibiotics and that there is really no danger of Lori taking the C diff back to the house where she lives and giving it to and killing the other two women who live there.
However, a nurse, somehow attached to the three-person assisted-living community where Lori lives has said that, since Lori has an open sore on her leg that Lori might catch C diff through that open sore. The director became so worried about this that we are now in a situation where Lori cannot ride in the same car that I have transported Louise in, and it is the only car that I have. The director of the house also decided that I cannot come into the house because I might bring C diff bacteria in on my hands or my clothes or my shoes. Therefore Lori is no longer allowed to be in my presence nor is she allowed to go to church with me, and since no one else will pick her up and supervise her it means that Lori is banned from church.
Since C diff bacteria, and spore form, can last for years, I suspect that this band, as it currently stands may mean that I will not be able to be in Lori's presence for several years. I wonder if the nurse feels that I should also be banned from church. There are a bunch of old people in the church.
I just wondered, I wonder if Louise and I will be banned from the NAAFA convention.
I am not happy.
