I know this is a different type of post but I wanted to share with everyone since people on this board have been really nice and supportive of me. well..here goes..
I WON MY SCHOLARSHIP!!
I just found out a few minutes ago with a letter in the mail!!!
I won the scholarship of "Celebrating African American Elders".
We had to submit an essay on what African American elder helped us realize our educational potential despite barriers in our life. I picked my grandmother. This scholarship is to help me with my education. I am in college for a second time trying to earn a degree in International Trade/International Marketing.
She was a sassy, strong, sarcastic, and wise bbw woman.
I will be awarded a plaque, certificate, portrait, and a reception in her honor. I do not have someone in my family to represent her so instead I will write to the committee and explain she died 3 years ago and I think she would want me to represent her since I am trying to have it all like she had.
Wow guys, I am so excited and happy.
Now here comes the hard part, finding a dress to wear for the portrait and a gown for the reception.
Oh well, at least it is a good
