Seeking help making a costume out of other clothes

I'm attending a Rocky Horror Picture Show shin-dig and I need help making a Magenta Costume. I've looked up how, but I'm really TERRIBLE at visualizing things, so I wondered if anyone else here has made costumes out of other clothes if so how they turned out? I really am like, at a loss on how to go about doing this.
