Sick laptop---any hints?

I know there's gotta be a couple of photos of big girls on it, so that makes it on-topic!

Anyway, I booted up my refurbished (bought it 5 years ago) IBM Thinkpad and saw the below screens; the second one appeared after I pressed RETURN.

Restarted, same thing. Unplugged it, left it alone awhile, booted up again, same thing.

I'm typing from my Dell.

Any hints? Solutions? Off to the PC doc with me? I haven't installed any new programs, nor abused the unit any more than usual.
