Okay so I'm an animal lover and now we have not one, but two dogs (and three bunnies, but they mostly stay off the couches). I'm not sure why, but it seems like as I get older my tolerance for dog hair around me is lessening. It doesn't help that we have a dark purplish berry colored velour couch which seems to attract the fur like nobody's bidness. ;) Keeping the floors clean is easy -- the vacuum. Even my bed is easy because I wash my sheets weekly and have a duvet cover that I can strip off and wash.

However...I feel like I'm forever vacuuming the couches and they look like crap within minutes of me spending an hour vacuuming them. Does anyone have any good experience with products that work well, or suggestions to help me keep them clean? I've tried some sort of weird spongy thing that is supposed to pick up the hair (it doesn't). But besides hand vacuuming and going through lint rollers like nobody's business, there must be other options.

Today I'm doing a Big Clean. I've taken the cushion covers off the cushions and am tumbling them in the dryer, on air, with a moist towel and some dryer sheets. It seems like they look a little better (they sure smell better) but I'm sure there must be an easier way. Should I wash my dogs more often, I wonder? Would that help? They're inside dogs and don't get dirty but I don't want their skin to get too dry. How often is too often to wash your inside doggie?

Please tell me there's a better way...
