The great white north, eh?
One thing that I’ve noticed a bit at my size, and that no doubt larger folks notice more, is that is makes some parts of life less predictable. You don’t know that chairs will fit well, that you can buy clothes in store X, when you go to certain events you don’t know how much standing or walking will be required and how well your feet/knees/back might handle that, when you meet new people you don’t know what assumptions they make about you on first sight, if your size is accompanied by a larger appetite you don’t know if meals provided in certain situations will sate you, and so on.

Uncertainty, chances for discomfort or pain – be it physical or emotional – awkwardness, these are all certainly negatives at times.

But on the other hand, not knowing quite how things are going to be for you can be viewed as adding a certain degree of excitement to life. Having to figure out how to meet your needs in a situation not designed for you can be a challenge to overcome, which can in turn be a source of pride and confidence. Winning over people who might have started with a dubious attitude because of your size can make really strong allies who maybe have had to get to know you past a superficial level.

So I wonder, does anyone here view their size as an adventure?

(and this thread totally isn’t because I mis-read another thread title at first. Nope, not at all …. ;-) )
