The ACLU and Human Rights Watch found that in Texas and Mississippi children ranging in age from 3 to 19 years old are routinely physically punished for minor infractions such as chewing gum, talking back to a teacher, or violating the dress code, as well as for more serious transgressions such as fighting.

Its interesting how the map of states that routinely and officially brutalize their students is pretty much a map of the Confederate South.

Guess old practices die hard (its a pretty safe bet that its not rich white kids who are being beat down). Perhaps all those folks concerned about modern day slavery should take a look at this real issue.
