This kind of thing makes me crazy:

This is from my local neighbourhood listserve:

A couple years ago, I planted some pretty perennials in my front garden only to have them dug up and stolen within a couple hours.

Dear Friends and Neighbours,

Within the last 18 hours (btwn 6pm Wednesday, May 24-Noon Thursday, May
25), a serviceberry bush and a dwarf black cherry tree were stolen from
Dovercourt School's front yard in the Three Sisters Garden at 228
Bartlett Avenue, btwn Hallam & Dupont.

The fruiting tree and bush were planted by the Suzie Franco's Grade 4
class in October 2004 and were part of a schoolwide plan to implement
the children's recommendations which overwhelming requested more edible
gardens. The two plants were recently mulched by the children during
school-wide Earth Day Activities that included mulching the new
boulevard trees along Gladstone between Hallam & Dupont. The plants
have also been cared for, watered and mulched by the afterschool
Gardening Club since they were planted.

Almost all the plant material has been generously discounted by Fiesta
Gardens (and our anonymous donor) and made possible by cash donations
from the Horticultural Societies of Toronto and Parkdale as well as the
Dovercourt School Council.

WE NEED YOUR HELP
If you saw anyone digging in the front garden of Dovercourt School or
saw anyone remove plant material, your information would be most
welcome.

I hope to replace the serviceberry and cherry tree as soon as possible

Yours truly,

A.

P.S. Also, if you see anyone removing anything from the new Hallam
raised bed in front of the school, please remind residents that this
area has also been planted by the Dovercourt School students
afterschool Gardening Club.
All donations of plant materials are most welcome to the new bed on
Hallam or to the school's flower and edible gardens.
