I just got back from a storytelling evening at a local cocktail bar/trendy café ***... I had no idea what to expect, but it was heaps of fun--there was some great vocal (singing) performances, and it turns out one of my friends regularly takes part! He was fantastic (being a bit of a gobby attention hog, I knew he would be!).

Storytelling is something I would love to be able to do. I think it's an awesome skill to have a room full of people enraptured using just your ability to weave a tale. It'd be fantastic in a business sense, and fantastic in social settings too. Even better if I ever decide to have kids (HA!)

I'll be looking a bit further into the local storytelling scene, to see if there's any workshops etc...

Any of you ever seen a professional storyteller in action? Did your parents ever read to you as kids etc?

***For those of you who want a bit more detail, I took one of my other friends out for a drink at The Vulcan Lounge--a pint of Irish cider for me. Followed by chicken byriani, misc. tandoori meats, peshwari naan and poppadoms at Spice Corner....polished off with the best damn chocolate milkshake I have ever tasted in my life at the storytelling venue--Milgi's.
