The new phase will be implemented by Friday and will focus antiviral drugs and medical attention on those deemed most at risk, including pregnant women, the morbidly obese and those with respiratory conditions such as asthma.
Has this connection been made between the disease and obesity anywhere else, such as in the United States? Has there been any actual evidence that fat people are more vulnerable to the disease?
Not that I'm saying the decision is the wrong one, but I would be interested to know how they drew the conclusion? As in, do fat people typically have worse symptoms?
