I would like to give credit where credit is due, even if it was unintentional.
So, I would like to thank Paul Ryan for releasing his long-term spending framework. And, this is because this is becoming a wake up call to the public, but not the way Mr. Ryan expected.
His budget shows the public that the deficit can not all be blame on the government is metaphorically burning our tax dollars on the white house lawn, but because we have in the past asked the government to provide services that we are just realizing the cost for.
For example people are start to do the math comparing Medicare with paying for a private insurance plan that is similar, and do not like the results.
So, despite lip service to the contrary, we can not balance the budget and cut taxes simply by cutting the fat. And, we have to start making a choice.
So, thank you Paul Ryan for creating a focus point to finally start a serious debate about the deficit. Hopefully this time it will not have the distraction of fault Economies, like the last one.
