Pam Poovey's Stunt Double
Witnesses report an 'inland tsunami' yesterday that smashed through Toowoomba which is 700m above sea level that then raced down into the Lockyer Valley which has destroyed vast swathes of countryside and killing a number of people with many still missing. Reports that a wave of water Eight-metres high and a kilometer wide was seen racing down through the Locker valley through towns like Gatton and Helidon.

Brisbane itself is facing the worst flood since 1974 possibly if the rain continues and we have had nothing but constant torrential rain here since yesterday. The Wivenhoe dam which was built after the '74 floods as part of a flood mitigation plan is doing its job otherwise the city would have been, well totally fucked. However things are getting worse as the day continues as water just continues to pour in South East Queensland.

(thats just down the road from me)
My local PoV so far has been that the major motorway into the city is at a total halt (heading eastwards). Another heading West has been closed totally just down the road from me and many low lying areas are already being evacuated and flooded already here in Brisbane and Ipswich. I've been out at the shops and people are really concerned about it, especially with all the talk about it being worse than '74. Alot of shops were closed up because staff can't get to work and absenteeism is getting high as people are being told to just go home. I live on a hill, but the roads are getting bad, if they aren't flooded and filled with massive pot holes. All the ferries have been cancelled and there are big disruptions on the train lines.
All the police, emergency services have had there leave cancelled and theres been plenty of helicopters flying about very low because of the rain. But we haven't had it anything as bad as they have at Toowoomba, Dalby up North and out West.
Hopefully the power won't go off, I'll keep posting.
Oh, and heres a link to the flood relief charity.
