I saw this on ABC news today about the filibustering of the Dream Act. As part of the report they interviewed someone who was brought illlegally into America when he was 2 years old and he is now 21. America is all he knows, and he seemed to have a decent life, even though he doesn't have a social security number.
1. Does that mean he doesn't pay tax to the government because he is technically illegal, and if so, how much revenue could the government raise if all illegal people in this position were taxed like anyone else?
2. How does his life function as being essentially persona non grata officially? Obviously doesn't have a passport, but what about things like credit cards, drivers licences, bank accounts etc?
Its difficult for me to understand this because the situation in America is very different from it here.
