Here's mine:
Well, I'm worried
Snake man's on my trail
Oh, Lord, I'm worried
Snake man's on my trail
And I only come outside
To pick up all the U.S. mail
I literally awoke with that song in my head. It's fairly obscure, and I haven't given it a listen for years and years. And then I wondered, after I had been up for a few minutes, why/how that happened. I mean, it's not like I had been influenced by tv or radio or the Internet or another person. So I figured (in the Freudian way that I often do) that it was evoked in much the same way that our dreams of falling, or being naked in a crowd, or missing a flight or exam--things of that nature--are: because those particular lyrics are closely associated with something pre-occupying my thoughts (whether they be conscious or subconscious) of late. In my particular case, I have felt burdened by financial worries that have been alleviated by a sudden and unexpected windfall (to the tune of $4K ). And, I've had other worries. So, I concluded that my brain intercepted my *worried* state, searched the archival database/Wurlitzer jukebox that resides within, and dropped that one on the platter.
Maybe this curiosity happens only to people for whom music has been an integral part of their lives, or maybe it was just a fluke, but I thought it might be an interesting theory to examine within a larger (heh) group. So--let's give it a whirl. Post the lyrics (or melody, if instrumental) of the song that first entered your head today. It's up to you whether you want to elaborate as to why you think it got stuck in your noggin'.
Oh yeah, extra points for anyone who can identify my song (without Googling the answer.)
