While I am sure the subject has been beaten into the ground, this particular YouTube talk really intrigued me. Tim is a very powerful voice in the anti-racism movement. Tim has written a few books and this talk of his (50+ minutes, just to warn you) covers a lot of ground.
Not to invoke Chomsky, but it is interesting to see how much language buries bigotry and its representation in popular media and population statistics. It's not a new phenomenon; Malcolm X spoke of it in his autobiography when he was simply referred to a dictionary and was surprised to see how the simple terms "white" and "black" are defined by the world at large.
