I know this isn't surgery related, but I thought my question might be received here much better than on the main board so if misplaced, I apologize in advance.
I have been actively trying to lose since the holidays. Shortly before Christmas, I became very ill and had to spend an evening in the ER. It was a wake up call of sorts. Anyhow....I set my mind to lose 100 pounds in the year 2006. My plan was simple, reduce caloric intake (my current diet is about 3500 calories a day, FAR from crash dieting) and increase physical activity. I have based my meal plan on the food pyramid, ensuring I get enough of the nutrients my body needs without the stuff it doesn't (no regular soda, no caffeine, reduced salt intake, no fast food except an occasional Subway sandwich when time is crunched.) Also, instead of eating two or three HUGE meals, I have started eating five to six small meals a day. I have forced myself to start walking more and I am swimming when the weather permits.
It's working, and the reason for my post is that I am afraid it might be working a little too fast. Since December 23rd, I have lost an entire dress size, or approximately 38 pounds. I am feeling a lot better and I have loads more energy with just this first step. Somedays it feels like too much energy as I am having trouble sitting still at times and I long to take short walks while in the middle of work projects. I haven't noticed any sagging skin (still too early) but the fat I do have is "loose and jiggly" if that makes sense.
Shouldn't it be slowing down by now? I have gone on plans before (Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, etc) and lost some in the first couple of weeks but then the loss rate always slowed down. I am so afraid of making this progress toward being healthier and have it backfire and I gain it all back plus some. Am I worrying unnecessarily?
