I just got home from trying to find some clothing. The only stores around these parts are Catherines and Avenue.I first went to Avenue, because I thought I would have a bit more luck.I was hopeful when I entered the store.I saw some cute things.I was really on the prowl for very basic shirts.I am talking about long sleeves(NOT the GD 3/4 length).I wanted some shirts that were not going to hit me at the point where my belly was going to hang below it.

Nothing.

Not one friggin shirt worked.I then tried on a few tops that were nice looking..there again..made proportioned for 'pears'(and I am glad that those women have a selection, but MANY fat women are largest through the middle)
I then ventured to Catherines.I was with my sister and she stayed in the car for that round, because my 6 month old nephew was sleeping.I told her,"Renee, I will now be assaulted by a tidal wave of wild prints".I was not at all disappointed.Any time I saw a rather 'plain' top from behind, it was like a reverse mullet..party in the front.A plethora of spangles and appliques, etc.
I then tried on the few pairs of pants I could find that were not a cotton knit, and all three had maybe 6 inches from waist to crotch(maybe a bit more, but I know many of you will know what I am saying).Who the hell FITS into these things??!!??

I am just so depressed about this right now.The workers in Catherines were boxing up clothing to be returned to the warehouse, and I saw huge piles of crazy prints.Year after year their buyers bring in the same stuff. The few ok shirts were of course all sold out in the over size 18's.

I am all for fun prints(as long as they are not crap explosions), but some of us like certain basic pieces...waaaaaaaaa.These are the times when I get so down that I want to be a size 10.

All I am asking for are tops that do not make me look like a block of cheese..too much to ask??

:(
