I was watching Oprah because I was sick yesterday. She had Doctor Oz on to discuss his new diet. Whowho.

This got me to thinking. After thousands of years of evolution at work the human body is made to concerve energy. Famines were the routine throughout human history. Because of this the Survivors, the ones who were able to conserve energy made it through the famine times.

Now think of the people who make up the U.S.A. For different reasons we were the survivors of the survivors who made it out of the chaos of Europe at the time.

Then the 20th century hits and cheap food production abounds. Then the second half of the 20th century hits and manual labor starts to decline. Now we have a tremendous amount of foodstuffs and don't have to do any physical activity to generate said food.

People with degrees are walking around and scratching their heads surprised that people are fatter than they used to be.

This amazes me. But what amazes me more is that instead of trying to aleviate the problems that come with this higher weight the medical community is trying to rig people so they don't gain weight. (And Failing Miserably)

I am convinced that about the time that the doctors find their "cure" for "obesity" there will be a famine that will wipe all the folks out who modified their bodies by taking the cure.

In my mind what makes sense is finding cures wheather thru nanotechnology or whatever to help the fat people that exist to stay healthier. Work on taking care of the Cholesterol, Sugar problems, bloodpressure, ect. The bottomline is stop trying to fight our bodies that were evolutionary programmed for famine times. Fat people are here to stay as long as the foodsupply holds out.
